Biography

Deanna Dence is a recent graduate from Emily Carr University with a Bachelor in Media Arts, majoring in Animation. Ever since she can remember she had always enjoyed art in different forms of medium. Taking three years of general arts at Alberta College of Art and Design, she journeyed through different courses to find what type of art form suits her. She took many courses that dealt with many mediums such as pottery, sculpting, painting, drawing, graphic design, media art and figure drawing courses. The ones she enjoyed and succeeded the most in dealt with figure drawing and media arts.
She decided to apply to Emily Carr University (Institute at the time) for the Media Arts-animation major program. At the same time she applied to the communication design course at ACAD and got accepted to both programs. Making a hard choice, she decided to go into animation because it offered a wide variety of career choices.
Deanna is currently working as a photojournalist at the Hinton Voice. She is getting introduced to the people in the community of Hinton, Alberta and writes the stories of the people and events as well as taking photographs. Her skills from her education help with the creative process of story writing and with new ideas.
